What it is

  • An artificial island in Tokyo Shinagawa Ward created through a land reclamation project started in 1939.
  • A functional district named by the Ministry of the Navy containing warehouses and corporate distribution centers.
  • Home to the Ohi Racecourse which was completed on the island in September 1950.
  • Site of the Shinagawa Kumin Park which opened to the public in 1987.
