A historic samurai shrine in Fukuoka dedicated to Kikuchi Taketoki, built upon a fourteenth-century burial mound.
What it is
- A shrine dedicated to the samurai Kikuchi Taketoki who died in battle in 1333.
- The site originated from a burial mound containing the torso of the fallen warrior.
- The current shrine buildings were constructed by Lord Kuroda Nagatomo in 1869.
- It was designated as a prefectural shrine in 1933 during the Kenmu Restoration period.
