Kōkoku-ji Temple
興国寺 (由良町)
Kōkoku-ji is a historic Rinzai temple, home to important cultural properties and a unique natural monument.
What it is
- A Rinzai sect Myōshin-ji school temple.
- Founded in 1227 by Ganshō.
- Received its name from Emperor Go-Daigo.
- Became a head temple for Fuke shakuhachi.
