What it is

  • A keyhole-shaped tumulus, or kofun.
  • Part of the Saki Tatetsuki Kofun Group.
  • Designated as a reference site for imperial mausoleums.

What to see

  • A tumulus 204 meters long.
  • A shield-shaped moat surrounds the tumulus.
  • Cylindrical Haniwa rows on three tiers.
  • Fukiishi, or revetment stones, are present.
  • Ten subsidiary mounds arranged along the moat.

  • Accessible by bus from Nara Station.
