What it is

  • A temple of the Soto school of Zen Buddhism founded by Kaigan in 1595
  • Dedicated to the primary deities Yakushi Nyorai and Shaka Nyorai
  • Historically supported by Shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu who granted thirteen koku of land
