Kyouō-in Temple is a historic Shingon Buddhist temple with a modern main hall.
What it is
- A Shingon-shu Buzan-ha Buddhist temple.
- Founded by Eicho in 1560.
- Served as a family temple for retainers.
- Received "Omemie" status under Tokugawa Tsunayoshi.
What to see
- The current main hall, built in 2000.
- The Jizo-do hall, repurposed as the main hall in 1907.
