Lake Matsubara
松原湖
A collection of three natural lakes in Nagano offering ice fishing, historic shrines, and scenic views of the surrounding highlands.
What it is
- A group of three lakes consisting of Lake Ina, Lake Cho, and Lake Otsuki.
- Formed naturally following the Ninwa earthquake in the year 887.
- The water currently powers two hydroelectric stations operated by Chubu Electric Power.
- The landscape served as the inspiration for the song Kitakaze Kozo no Kantaro.
