What it is
- An independent temple of the Jodo Shinshu Higashi Honganji sect located in Taito Ward.
- Founded during the late Muromachi period by Hosei, a member of the Ashikaga clan.
- Relocated to its current site following the Great Fire of Meireki in 1657.
- Established originally in Mikawa Province before moving to Tokyo by order of Tokugawa Ieyasu.
