Meiji Shrine is a historic site in Matsudo with ancient artifacts and castle ruins.
What it is
- Founded in 1702 as Myoken-sha shrine.
- Dedicated to Kuninotokotachi-no-kami.
- Originally enshrined Myoken Bosatsu, guardian of the Chiba clan.
- Name changed to Meiji Shrine in 1872.

- Site is on the Kamihongo plateau.
- Considered the ruins of Hongo Castle.
- Earthen embankments and moats were found.
- Matsudo's Sanbiki Shishimai is an intangible folk cultural property.
