Mirokumitsu-ji Temple

What it is

• A temple of the Chisan school of Shingon Buddhism founded in 774.
• Established by Kaisei, who was the son of Emperor Konin.
• Dedicated to the main deity Fudo Myoo and the bodhisattva Miroku Bosatsu.
• Home to five Buddhist statues carved by the priest Kukai in 807.

What to see

• A reinforced concrete main hall originally constructed in 1978.
• A temple bell donated by Hojo Shigetoki in the year 1246.
• Various temple buildings that underwent major renovations in 1985.
