Miwa Shrine
美和神社 (桐生市)
Miwa Shrine is an ancient shrine at Mt. Azuma's base, dedicated to important deities.
What it is
- An ancient Shikinaisha shrine founded in 796.
- It enshrines Omononushi Kushimikatama no Mikoto.
- It also enshrines Takehayasusano no Mikoto.
- Merged with Yasaka Shrine in 1908.
What to see
- Located at the southeastern foot of Mt. Azuma.
- Faces Yamate-dori street.
- A mikoshi storehouse is next to the haiden.
When to go
- Kagura and taiko are dedicated at Kiryu Ebisu-ko.
