Mount Apoi

What it is

• A 810.5-meter mountain in Samani Town composed of rare peridotite rock.
• Part of the Hidaka Sanmyaku-Erimo-Tokachi National Park and a UNESCO Global Geopark.
• A Special Natural Monument dedicated to protecting a unique alpine plant community.
• The name originates from the Ainu word meaning place of fire.
