Mount Asahi
朝日岳 (北海道)
A 598-meter peak west of Jozankei Onsen offering two hiking trails and the first morning sunlight in the area.
What it is
- A mountain standing 598.1 meters tall in the Minami-ku district of Sapporo.
- Named by Heihachi Tashiro during the late Meiji era.
- Known as the first location in the area to receive the morning sunlight.
- Located directly to the west of the Jozankei Onsen hot spring resort.
What to see
- The Iwato Park climbing course which begins near the Iwato Kannon-do temple.
- The Kyu-Horinso hiking route starting near the site of the former Horinso.
- Two distinct climbing routes available for hikers to reach the summit.
