What it is
- An active volcano standing 1,116 meters tall in a Quasi-National Park
- The youngest volcano in the Niseko mountain range
- Named after the Ainu word for sulfur mountain
- Site of a former sulfur mine operated by the Mitsui zaibatsu until 1944
