Mount Kamuriki

What it is

• A 1,252-meter andesitic lava dome located at the southwestern end of the Nagano Basin.
• A site mentioned in the Kokin Wakashu and the Yamato Monogatari under the name Obasuteyama.
• The location of Kamuriki Shrine, which is dedicated to the deity Tsukuyomi-no-Mikoto.

• Visible columnar jointing on the eastern slope near the mountain summit.
