Mount Kita

What it is

• The second highest mountain in Japan standing at 3,193 meters high
• The highest non-volcanic mountain in the country made of Paleozoic sedimentary rock
• A major peak within the Shirane Sanzan group and Minami Alps National Park
• The primary source of the Noro River located in Yamanashi Prefecture

What to see

• The Kitadake Buttress which is a 600-meter rock wall on the eastern side

Getting there
