What it is

  • A 3,033-meter peak located on the border of Nagano and Gifu prefectures
  • Part of the Hida Mountain range within Chubu Sangaku National Park
  • Named by Masao Udono in 1909 and features a third-class triangulation point
  • Recognized as one of the Continued 100 benchmark mountains of Gifu

What to see

  • The Daikiretto ridge which connects the summit to Mount Kitahotaka
  • A glacial cirque located on the eastern slope of the mountain
  • The Minami-dake Hut situated 200 meters south of the summit
