What it is
- A 252-meter-high volcano located on the southern shore of Lake Toya.
- A cryptodome created by viscous dacite lava during the 1910 eruption of Mount Usu.
- Also known as Meiji Shinzan, it was officially named Yosomiyama around 1931.
- The volcanic activity here led to the discovery of the nearby Toyako Onsen.
What to see
- Deciduous broad-leaved forests that now cover the entire mountain surface.
- A major volcanic crater known as Genta-ana.
