Myōgyō-ji Temple

What it is

• A Shinshu Otani-ha Buddhist temple founded by Shaku Shudo in June 1573
• The temple carries the mountain name Kanshozan and moved to its current site in the early 1800s
• The current main hall dates to 1889 after several fires destroyed previous structures
• This site served as a free shelter for victims of the Great Kanto Earthquake
