Myōkyō-ji Temple

What it is

• A Kenpon Hokke sect Buddhist temple founded by Priest Nichigyo in 1460
• The site was originally home to a Shingon sect institution
• Tokugawa Ieyasu donated land to the temple in 1591
• The grounds contain the graves of soldiers who fell during the Boshin War
