Myotaiji is a historic Nichiren-shu temple with important cultural properties and a unique festival.

What it is

  • A Nichiren-shu temple, founded in 1295.
  • Its mountain name is Otani-zan.
  • One of four sacred sites of Myokenji.
  • Founded by Nichizo, a grandson in dharma of Nichiren.

  • Shaka Nyorai statue, made in 1635.
  • Shaka Nehan-zu painting, from the Momoyama period.
