- Founded in 539 AD as Nakayama Kannon.
- Became Nakayama Shrine in 1868 due to Shinbutsu Bunri.
- Dedicated to Hirokunioshitakekanahi-no-mikoto.
- Designated a Ken Jinja Chocho Sanko Shitei Jinja in 1989.
