西保神社
Nishibo Shrine: a historic site in Takaoka City, preserving the memory of a sacred cedar.
What it is
- Formed on August 10, 1910, by merging five shrines.
- Enshrines five deities from Goshinomiyashrine.
- Also enshrines Amaterasu and Toyouke from Shimmeisha.
- Shirayamahime from Hakusansha and Kagutsuchi from Atagosha are also enshrined.
What to see
- Bishamondo Hall, built to remember a cedar tree.
- Inside Bishamondo Hall, see roots of the fallen cedar.
