Ōjō-in Temple

What it is

• A Jodo sect Buddhist temple dedicated to the deity Amida Nyorai.
• Founded in 1228 by Priest Bencho and moved to its current site in 1724.
• Served as the Kumamoto Corps headquarters during the historic Satsuma Rebellion.

• The 6th and 100th Hogyu Jizo statues located on the temple grounds.
