Ōkannon-ji Temple
大観音寺
Ōkannon-ji Temple houses a rare iron Buddha head with a long history.
What it is
- A temple of the Seikan'on-shū sect.
- Founded in 1878.
- Dedicated to an iron head of Shō Kannon Bosatsu.
- The iron head was unearthed in 1258.

- The main deity: an iron head of Shō Kannon Bosatsu.
- The well 'Kurogane-no-i' where the head was found.
When to go
- Open on the 11th and 17th of each month.
