岡高神社
Okataka Shrine is an ancient shrine dedicated to two gods, with a history spanning over 1500 years.
What it is
- Dedicated to Sugawara Michizane and Susanoo-no-Mikoto.
- Susanoo-no-Mikoto was first enshrined in 459.
- Moved to its current location in 685.
- Built by Ono no Takamura in 851.
What to see
- Main hall built in 1716.
- Worship hall completed in 1888.
- Middle gate and fence built in 1930.
- Shrine crest is Hoshi-Umebachi.
- Wooden komainu statues.
