Omiya Shrine
大宮神社
Omiya Shrine is a historic Osaka guardian shrine with a rare Hideyoshi statue.
What it is
- Founded by Minamoto no Yoshitsune.
- Dedicated to Emperor Ojin, Empress Jingu, and Hime Okami.
- Designated guardian shrine for Osaka Castle in 1583.
- Seven nearby shrines merged into it in 1910.
What to see
- Current main hall rebuilt on September 15, 1936.
- Life-sized seated statue of Toyotomi Hideyoshi.
- Statue is an Osaka City tangible folk cultural property.
When to go
- Ebisumatsuri is held from January 9th to 11th.
