Omiya Shrine is a historic Osaka guardian shrine with a rare Hideyoshi statue.

What it is

  • Founded by Minamoto no Yoshitsune.
  • Dedicated to Emperor Ojin, Empress Jingu, and Hime Okami.
  • Designated guardian shrine for Osaka Castle in 1583.
  • Seven nearby shrines merged into it in 1910.

  • Current main hall rebuilt on September 15, 1936.
  • Life-sized seated statue of Toyotomi Hideyoshi.
  • Statue is an Osaka City tangible folk cultural property.

  • Ebisumatsuri is held from January 9th to 11th.
