Oshima

What it is

• An uninhabited island in Happo Town with a circumference of approximately 500 meters.
• The island consists of two distinct rocky hills named Ojima and Mejima.
• Shrines dedicated to Benzaiten and Ebisu are located on the hills.
• A tourism company called Kanyosha was established for the area in 1926.

What to see

• Concrete shrines that replaced the original wooden structures on the island hills.
• Parallel grooves in the rock known as Benkei Kuruma-hiki no Ato.
• A shallow 30-meter wide basin called Okinoke.
• Views of the two rocky hills from the nearby coastline.

When to go

• The Happo Hanabi Fest is a new event replacing the former August fireworks festival.
