Oyamazumi Shrine

What it is

• A former village shrine founded in 949 by Fujiwara no Sumisaku.
• The site is dedicated to the deities Susanoo no Mikoto, Izanagi, and Izanami.
• The shrine moved to its current location in 1374 and was renamed around 1870.

What to see

• The main hall was rebuilt in 1419 and remains standing today.
• The central building is designated as a National Important Cultural Property.

Getting there

• Take the Gururin Bus service to reach the shrine area.
• The grounds are a ten minute walk from the Rurikeibashi bus stop.
