What it is
- Soto Zen Buddhist temple, founded in 807.
- Originally called Katsuraya-san-ji.
- Minamoto no Noriyori and Yoriie were confined and killed here.
- Rebuilt as a Soto Zen temple by Hojo Soun.

- Current main hall, rebuilt in 1883.
