- Founded by En no Ozuno in 650 or 658.
- Main deity is Benzaiten, one of Japan's four.
- Considered the birthplace of Tomikuji, the origin of lotteries.

- Main hall rebuilt in 1656 by Emperor Go-Mizunoo.
