What it is

  • Koyasan Shingon sect temple.
  • 16th sacred site of the Shikoku 88 Pilgrimage.
  • Established by Gyoki under Emperor Shomu's command.
  • Rebuilt in 1659 after being burned down.

What to see

  • Main hall enshrines Senju Kannon, Fudo Myoo, and Bishamonten.
  • Kukai carved and enshrined the main image in 816.
  • Koshindo enshrines Shomen Kongo.

When to go

  • Daishido is opened annually around February 20th.
