Mifune Shrine is a historic river god shrine, a small but significant part of Ise Grand Shrine.

What it is

  • A sessha (auxiliary shrine) of Ise Grand Shrine's Inner Shrine.
  • Dedicated to Okami-no-mikagekawa-no-kami, a river god.
  • Re-established in its current location on September 30, 1663.
  • Co-located with Mumino Shrine, which also enshrines river gods.

  • Shrine buildings in the Shinmei-zukuri architectural style.
  • A stone lantern installed at the entrance in 1843.
