Futago-ji Temple
両子寺
Ancient Tendai temple on a mountainside, part of two pilgrimages, with unique stone statues.
What it is
- Tendai sect temple, founded in 718 by Ninmon Bosatsu.
- Main deity is Amida Nyorai.
- Central temple of Rokugo Manzan, highest prayer place for Kitsuki Domain.
- Part of Kyushu Saigoku 33 Kannon and Kunisaki Rokugo Manzan pilgrimages.
What to see
- Stone Kongo Rikishi statues guard the gate.
- Temple grounds within Setonaikai National Park.
- Located on the hillside of Mount Futago.
