What it is

  • An island in Tomie Town that became completely uninhabited in July 2022
  • A former settlement that once housed one hundred and ninety people in 1960
  • The site where Uku Kakoi died in the year 1507
  • A location where residents historically filtered rainwater due to no local water supply

What to see

  • Approximately forty houses remaining from the original island settlement
  • Kamo Shrine which enshrines the deity Wakeikazuchi no Mikoto

Getting there

  • Located seven kilometers east of Tomie Port
  • Access requires hiring a private sea taxi from Fukue Island
  • There are no scheduled ferry services currently operating to the island
