Kannonji Temple is a historic Jodo-shu temple with an ancient Kannon statue.
What it is
- A Jodo-shu Buddhist temple.
- Predecessor temple built between 729-749.
- Suffered three fires, including one by Oda Nobunaga.
- The 12th temple of the Izumi Saigoku Kannon Pilgrimage.
What to see
- Principal image is an Eleven-faced Kannon statue.
- Statue is said to be from the Nara period.
- Statue's head was repaired in the Edo period.
