What it is

  • A temple of the Jodo sect of Buddhism.
  • Founded by Gyoki in 749 AD.

What to see

  • Main hall rebuilt in 1996.
  • Standing Amitabha Nyorai statue, possibly Kamakura period.
  • Seated Yakushi Nyorai statue from the Edo period.
  • Seated monk statue, possibly from the Edo period.
  • Temple bell, also called the Longevity Bell, dated 1684.
  • Grave for Ochiyo Hanbei, a Joruri play character.
