What it is
- Temple of the Koyasan Shingon sect.
- Founded in 729 by Gyoki.
- Rebuilt between 1624-1643 by Yushou.
- Main hall newly built in 1989.
What to see
- Principal image, Yakushi Nyorai, is a hidden Buddha.
- Wooden Eleven-faced Kannon statue is a cultural property.
- Wooden Jizo Bosatsu statue is a cultural property.
- Wooden Dainichi Nyorai seated statue is housed here.
- Wooden Bishamonten standing statue is also present.
When to go
- Hoshi Matsuri is held on February 11.
