Renge-ji Temple is a historic Buddhist temple with imperial connections and important cultural assets.
What it is
- Jodo-shu Buddhist temple, founded in 615 by Prince Shotoku.
- Rebuilt in 1284 and restored in 1539.
- Became an imperial prayer temple for Emperor Hanazono.
- Designated a Jodo-shu head temple in 1942.
