- Founded in 1265 by Jōryō.
- Moved to current location in 1670.
- Tokugawa Mitsukuni granted land to the temple.

- New Year's service on January 1st.
- Spring Higan-e from March 18th to 24th.
- Obon festival from August 13th to 16th.
- Autumn Higan-e from September 20th to 26th.
