Ryōgen-ji Temple
領玄寺
Ryogen-ji Temple combines a Nichiren temple with a significant Jomon period shell mound.
What it is
- A Nichiren sect temple.
- Its mountain name is Nichijō-zan.
- Restored in 1649.
What to see
- The Ryogen-ji shell mound is on the grounds.
- Shell mound dates to the Middle Jomon period.
- Excavated shells, stone axes, and arrowheads.
- Jomon pottery was also excavated.
- The main hall was rebuilt in 1963.
