Ryōnen-ji is a Tokyo temple with a history spanning centuries, rebuilt after WWII.
What it is
- Jōdo Shinshū Honganji-ha temple.
- Founded by a retainer of Uesugi Kenshin.
- Originally located in Echigo Province.
- Moved to current Tokyo location in early Shōwa period.

- Principal image was evacuated and survived 1945 air raids.
- Temple buildings were rebuilt in 1963.
