Sai-dera Temple
佐井寺
Sai-dera Temple is a historic Shingon temple with a significant Jizo statue, easily accessible by train.
What it is
- A Shingon sect temple, also known as Sanden-ji Temple.
- Founded in 677 by Dosho, or in 735 by Gyoki.
- Rebuilt in 1647 by Monk Rakujun after fire destruction.
What to see
- A wooden Jizo Bosatsu standing statue, a cultural property.
- The Jizo statue dates from the Heian period.
