Saidō-ji Temple

Saidō-ji Temple is a historic Jōdo-shū temple with a unique Jizō statue, worth an hour's visit.
What it is
- A Jōdo-shū Buddhist temple.
- Founded in 1191 by Ujiie Kimiyori.
- Served as the Ujiie clan's family temple.
What to see
- The current main hall, completed in 1784.
- A stone Jizō Bosatsu statue.
- The statue is known as Teika Jizō or Tsuta Jizō.
- The Jizō statue was modeled after Fujiwara no Teika.
