- Founded by Genshin in the Kankō era (1004-1012).
- Re-founded by Eishun in the Eikyō era (1429-1440).
- Designated a Kokuyakuji by Tokugawa Mitsukuni.

- Four statues are cultural properties of Ibaraki Prefecture.
- Houses Fudō Myōō as the 28th sacred site.
