Sainen-ji Temple is a historic Jodo-shu temple with important statues and graves.
What it is
- It is a Jodo-shu temple.
- Founded in 1560 by Gyo-o.
- It is the family temple of the Makino clan.
- Became head temple for five temples in Shinano Province.

- Seated statue of Amitabha Tathagata is the principal image.
- Statue designated a Nagano Prefectural Treasure in 1959.
