Saion-ji Temple
西音寺
Saion-ji is a historic temple with a unique Kannon statue, easily accessible by train.
What it is
- It is a Shingon-shu Chizan-ha Buddhist temple.
- It was founded in 1470 by Genchu.
- It was a betto-ji of the nearby Yakumo Shrine.
What to see
- Jujo Seikannon-do is an outside temple building.
- It enshrines a Kannon Bosatsu statue.
- The statue was created by Yamashita Kakudo.
When to go
- Local residents hold a Kannon-ko on the 12th of each month.
