Visit this historic Shinto shrine to see its unique dual structure and ancient crest.
What it is
- A Shinto shrine in Maibara City, Shiga Prefecture.
- Consists of an Inner Shrine (Sakata-no-miya) and Outer Shrine (Oka Jinja).
- Dedicated to Amaterasu Sumera Ohokami and Toyouke-bime-no-mikoto.
- Rebuilt by Sasaki Hidetuna.
What to see
- Sakata-no-miya, formerly known as Sakata Daijingū.
- Oka Jinja, once called Oka Tennō-sha and Wakamiya.
- Shrine crest: a circle with a tachibana orange.
