Sasao Kofun
笹尾古墳
Sasao Kofun is a large, ancient burial mound with a unique stone chamber.
What it is
- A round-shaped kofun (burial mound) discovered in 1981.
- Construction estimated from the late 6th to early 7th century.
What to see
- A mound with a diameter of approximately 27 meters.
- A moat about 4 meters wide surrounds the mound.
- A double-sided horizontal stone chamber, 12.5 meters long.
- Fragments of a vermilion house-shaped stone coffin.
