Sengen Shrine is a historic site in Mishima, once a stop for Fuji pilgrims.
What it is
- Formerly a branch of Mishima Taisha, now independent.
- Its name may come from the Buddhist name 'Sengen'.
- Once the third shrine of Izu Province.
- Dedicated to Konohanasakuya-hime no Mikoto.
What to see
- A subordinate shrine, Shibaoka Shrine, is on the grounds.
When to go
- Main festival is held on July 15th and 16th.
